Wantirna Mall

The Wantirna Mall shopping centre car park was reconstructed by Knox City Council, with the new design including WSUD features to meet best practice targets for water quality.

The car park is located adjacent to a major road with a steep grade between the kerbs, making it unsuitable for typical bioretention systems. As the carpark graded towards this edge of the car park some treatment of this part of the catch would be required to meet the treatment objectives.

The solution was to install Enviss Sentinel pits on the kerb line. Here the pits could intercept water flowing down the gutter, while allowing large storms to bypass the pits and enter the drainage system via side entry pits further down. The small footprint and trafficable class D grating allowed a high level of treatment to be achieved in the small space available.
